Vista Outdoor is seeking a dynamic Accounting Manager to join our CamelBak team. The position serves as the close deputy to the controller while driving the varying responsibilities necessary for an accurate and efficient month end close process. The candidate will both supervise and own the month end processes and account reconciliations with an eye towards complete understanding. The incumbent will need to develop a close connectivity with the rest of the Finance team to ensure the accuracy of our financials and our understanding of the variances to forecast. Critical thinking and problem solving are the key to success.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(Fundamental duties necessary to achieve the objective of the position.)

Review the entries and progress on month end processes of the accounting staff

Prepare select month end calculations and accruals

Examine, reconcile and analyze financial information such as balance sheets, fixed asset ledger, income statements

Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal controls, policies and maintain appropriate documentation.

Coordinate reporting schedule and deadlines. Compile information into complete packages for submission to management and corporate accounting teams.

Investigate and resolve any reconciliation discrepancies in a timely fashion.

Work with cross functional team to ensure accuracy of information

Collaborate with FP&A team on both forecast creation and variances to prior forecasts

Participate in internal and external annual audits

Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, update reporting etc.

Assist with cashflow forecasting, tax preparation and other accounting duties.

Special Projects as needed

Adheres to and enforces internal controls and compliance with department procedures



SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Physical Requirements: Employee will be sitting the majority of the time, with some walking and standing. Minor lifting objects over 10 lbs., carrying, stooping, and kneeling to access books and reports, transport paperwork and materials, and to retrieve files. Manual dexterity for extensive computer work and writing. Hearing, speaking, and vision are required.



Mental Requirements: Must communicate effectively in verbal and written formats. Reading comprehension and basic math skills are a requirement. Flexibility to effectively deal with a variety of people and situations and to handle interruptions and multiple tasks simultaneously. Quick thinking and problem solving to readily assimilate information. Ability to maintain tact and highly professional manners. Initiative to effectively complete tasks with little supervision. The ability to identify and appropriately handle confidential information.



Equipment Used: Telephone, calculator, personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, and printer.

Requirements : MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(Experience, education, licenses, certifications, and specific knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.)



Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

5+ years of Accounting experience, preferably with manufacturing company

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong Excel skills required.

Experience with Oracle (or similar inventory and ERP systems)

Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to multitask and handle high pressure situations while maintaining a high level of quality and flexibility.

Strong organizational ability and time management skills

Ability to plan, initiate and complete work assignments with minimal supervision

Works well in a team environment as well as independently

Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals

Supervisory skills a strong plus

CPA certification a Plus
