Description : The NWSL office is growing to meet the demands of the changing global landscape of professional women's soccer. We are looking for individuals who desire to make an impact on the future of sport in the United States.


Position Description
Reporting to the Managing Director, Finance & Administration, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for the
timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas and will lead the implementation of
new and ongoing financial initiatives. The Accounting Manager will be supervise, direct, and review the work of the
Staff Accountant.


Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee individual accounts, the general ledger, and the reporting system ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance on accounting matters such as implications of new accounting standards
- Lead month-end closing activities, including review of journal entries, variance analysis, and financial statements
- Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate
monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with the Commissioner and Managing Director, Finance & Administration
- Review payroll twice a month for all NWSL staff and monthly for all NWSL players
- Ensure that all NWSL players are paid in accordance with their contracted terms
- Ensure transactions with third parties (AP, AR) are processed in a timely fashion
- Review cash forecasts in order to assist in the strategic and capital planning processes NWSL Job Description
- Assist the Managing Director, Finance & Administration in the annual budgeting and forecasting process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct
variances as appropriate
- Coordinate filing of all quarterly and annual tax forms with 3rd party providers
- Special projects, analysis and support for senior management as required
Requirements : Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university; CPA a plus
- 5+ years of progressive experience, with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of Quick Books and advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
- Experience in financial modeling and budgeting
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills
- Attention to accuracy and detail required
- Experience managing and developing staff members
- Ability to work independently and in a virtual environment execute without close supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
- Ability to maintain strong 'customer service' and follow-up with all team and player/employee inquiries
- Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines
- Ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings within a professional sports atmosphere
