Description : Reporting to the Managing Director, Drug Sourcing and Business Development, the Senior Director, Strategic Planning provides primary direction and leadership in Strategic Planning for the Express Scripts’ Supply Chain Organization. This leadership role promotes corporate, operational and strategic development by identifying, evaluating and implementing new business opportunities and strategic initiatives. The Senior Director oversees research, quantitative analysis, and modeling that support strategic organization initiatives and presents complex and challenging business issues to executive management. The position works cross-functionally to develop, execute and enable strategic projects.

Essential Functions:

1) Represent Supply Chain Business Development, serving as a leader internally and externally, as needed, for large margin-driving projects, implementations and external contract negotiations.

2) Oversee a high performing team that is positioned for future growth.

3) Collaborate with external business development contacts and other internal departments, such as all areas of Supply Chain, Sales and Account Management, Legal, Accounting/Finance, Technology and Human Resources to facilitate cross-functional initiatives key to margin growth.

4) Lead role in presenting internally and externally about Business Development initiatives and broader Supply Chain strategic projects, as well as broader healthcare market landscape dynamics. Presentations will be to the executive level both internally and externally. Role will also be responsible for driving strategic memos and presentations for executive and board discussions.

5) Manage tight deadlines for multiple competing priorities, scope, and converging opinions to solution in a timely manner. Responsible for medium-large sized projects/ implementations from original concept through implementation and support, as required.

6) Seamlessly gather, analyze and utilize data to develop insights, and drive to appropriate conclusions about the strategic and financial attractiveness of concepts/initiatives.
Requirements : 1) At least 12 years of relevant experience, including management and leadership experience. PBM/ healthcare experience is desirable.

2) Bachelor’s degree desirable. Master’s degree preferred.

3) Experience in directing or working with multi-disciplinary teams.

4) Strong financial acumen with ability to efficiently develop insights from analytics and financial statements and assess attractiveness of various concepts.

5) Proven track record for success in leading high-performing teams in a matrixed environment.

6) Develop high performing team to meet margin annual margin goals. This includes managing, motivating, and mentoring direct reports both on their career development, as well as the broader healthcare market.

7) Demonstrated thought leadership on challenging problems with examples of implementing innovative analytic and operational solutions and driving outstanding results.

8) Strong verbal/written communication and leadership skills to work with external parties and various matrix partners, including all areas of Supply Chain, Sales and Account Management, Legal, Accounting/Finance, Technology and Human Resources.

9) Ability to manage a vision and purpose with various business stakeholders and analytics teams.

10) Effective leadership, prioritization and management of complex deliverable portfolio in a dynamic environment.

11) Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
