Business Optimization & Redesign (O&R) is a new department within Kaiser Permanente. Reporting directly to the CEO, O&R’s focus is to accelerate Kaiser Permanente’s path to more affordable, patient-centered healthcare. As a member of the team, you’ll play a crucial role by applying and honing skills in consultative solution design, disciplined program execution and complex organizational change management. Team members work on challenges and opportunities that span the Kaiser Permanente enterprise ranging from operations to organization design to member experience and more. As a Project Management Specialist, you:

What You’ll Do -
Project Management: Manage multiple complex projects. Develop and maintain project approaches, organization, plans, tasks, interdependencies, timelines and risks, leveraging evolving data and information. Demonstrate ability to customize foundational project management skills to meet the needs of individual initiatives, sponsors and stakeholders. Demonstrate competence in building agile project approaches and apply agility and flexibility when significant new information or direction is provided.. Exhibit strong project monitoring skills, demonstrating the ability to focus on the big-picture and project goals, while managing the details necessary for project execution. Perform project status reporting. Plan and facilitate project transition and handoff to markets, functions and operational areas as appropriate. Maintain awareness of other projects, including enterprise-level projects, to assess opportunities for collaboration and/or potential impacts. Provide project management training and coaching to peers and junior team members. Help develop project management best practices, tools and techniques for use across the team. Provide project management subject matter expert and insights to leadership and senior executives.
Drive the Work: Work in partnership with consultants that lead the work and set the direction, while you are responsible for aligning the team to a project plan and driving and prioritizing the work to achieve results. Take responsibility and accountability for project deliverables, maintain quality standards across all deliverables. Rely on your collaboration and influencing skills rather than formal authority to guide team alignment and forward movement on project execution. Demonstrate resourcefulness in applying ways of thinking to define, analyze, prioritize and find alternatives for executing the project and solving challenges and problems.
Collaboration: Work in small, fast-paced teams where interdependent workstreams need to be coordinated and integrated frequently. Develop reports, dashboards, white papers, PowerPoint decks and other artifacts to inform stakeholders and executives and help drive planning and decision-making. Communicate roles, responsibilities, timelines and dependencies on a consistent basis to ensure work moves forward. Provide transparency on approach, expectations, outcomes, risks, limitations and requests. Anticipate and prepare for questions, concerns and next steps. Exhibit comfort and competence under questioning. Develop and execute project communications plans.
Change Management: Understand change management principles and best practices. Collaborate with consulting leads and teams to plan for and execute change management at the initiative/enterprise level. Help align change management across projects.
