Description : Key responsibilities
o Tax Planning and Research:
o Develop and implement multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews that analyze income, franchise, sales and use, payroll, ad valorem and other taxes to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives, and corporate structures that can minimize AB’s tax burden
o Assist in preparing and maintaining models of state tax impacts of Federal Tax Reform and state legislation to accurately calculate any potential state tax liability
o Participate in the review of state tax filing positions and analyze impact to the Company
o Monitor state tax legislation changes and assist with analysis of the impact to the Company
o Participate in researching and documenting positions to support conclusions on various state tax issues
o Identify areas of opportunity for process improvement with respect to state tax compliance and provision and support the implementation of technology tools and automation of processes

o Tax Policy:
o Work with the Government Affairs Group in matters related to State Tax helping with understanding and engaging on proposed and enacted legislation
o Participate in Trade Association and Coalitions to support the position of the company in state and local tax matters

o M&A:
o Support merger/acquisition teams focusing on due diligence, tax strategy analysis, and integration
o Perform complex tax research and planning related to determining corporate income tax consequences of acquisitions, divestitures and other transactions

o Compliance and Audit Support:
This role will work closely with the Tax Operations team in St Louis on the following matters:
o Support and provide advice on the preparation of all State and Local Income and Franchise Tax Returns
o Support state tax audits
Requirements : Job Competencies:
• Relevant experience with State income tax matters
• Working knowledge of Federal and International tax matters
• Ability to work outside of comfort zone
• Operate as a team player
• Challenge existing practices & test new ideas
• Work with all levels within the corporation
• Ability to use tax knowledge and previous experience to add value and assist in meeting the department's objectives while working in a fast-paced organization;
• Work well independently and in a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Effectively manage third party advisers who assist AB in meeting its obligations and development on tax initiatives;
• Participate in discussions with senior management on state and local tax- related issues
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (e.g. Pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s)

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business
• Masters Degree in Tax, JD/LL.M in Taxation, and/or CPA certification
• Minimum 10 years of relevant tax experience
• Experience with Big Four accounting firm, law firm or large corporation with complex transactions
