Position Summary:
Reports into the Procurement Operations Management of the Supply Chain Sourcing team at Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS). Working as part of a larger team at the corporate level, the position assists in the purchasing of commodity products, chemicals, and non-capital supplies. This includes activities such as daily order management, handling confirmations, replenishing inventories, notifying contract teams of changes to products and assisting in the resolution of pricing and product issues. The Procurement Specialist triggers troubleshooting and resolves errors that occur along the procurement process through identifying the correct stakeholders and seeing the solution thru to the successful procurement of the product/service. The Procurement Specialist also expedites, cancels/defers and ensures that purchase orders are aligned to support customer needs. He or she will serve as a liaison between the customer and suppliers, building and maintaining strong customer and vendor relationships. The procurement process should at all times be aligned with the vision for the future of Supply Chain, namely, sourcing the best quality products at the best price, treating customers with service orientation and focusing on supply chain excellence internally.
Requirements : Competencies:
Education:
AA degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
Knowledge:
Requires a knowledge of procurement of commodity products, chemicals and non-capital supplies as well as cost/price structure. Requires knowledge of Supply Chain ERP Applications, (e.g. SAP). Requires knowledge of health care industry and supply chain.
Skills:
• Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills to building and maintain strong team, customer and vendor relationships
• Able to troubleshoot various Supply Chain related problems by identifying the right stakeholder and seeing issues thru to resolution
• Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet agreed upon deadlines
• Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Quick learner and willingness to develop in the supply chain department of JHHS
• Ability to identify and escalate risks when required

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:
GHX Certification is required within 60 days of starting position (Order Center)

Work Experience:
• Minimum of four years’ experience in procurement in a health care environment and/or higher education institution. SAP experience highly desirable
• Machines, Tools, Equipment:
• Microsoft office (especially Excel and Microsoft Word), benchmarking tools, and ERP applications

Responds to SAP user inquiries and researches and resolves problems in accordance with departmental procedures

Ability to use and manage information systems; preferably SAP and GHX
Working Conditions:
Typically work in an office environment
Experience above and beyond the work experience requirement will be considered in lieu of degree on a 2 years of experience for 1 year of education basis
