Position Summary:

This position reports into the legal department and is responsible for reviewing contracts within operational deadlines. This could include redlining and editing clinical, non-clinical and purchased services contracts as well as GPO and local contracts. The position will work closely with members of the Sourcing function (e.g. sourcing leads and sourcing specialists), the Procurement function, the wider Legal Department, other departments and vendors as necessary to finalize contracts. In addition, the paralegal will be responsible for upskilling the sourcing team’s ability in drafting contracts. In doing so the Paralegal should align with the Training and Education Manager in Supply Chain to ensure a coordinated approach to learning and development across the supply chain department. The process of reviewing contracts and upskilling sourcing staff should at all times be aligned with the vision for the future of Supply Chain, namely, sourcing the best quality products at the best price, treating customers with service orientation and focusing on supply chain excellence internally.
Requirements : Competencies:
A. Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required. An Associate’s degree and Paralegal Certificate may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
B. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of contract management and (legal) contracting language in a supply chain environment. Requires knowledge of standard Microsoft applications and contracting database.
C. Skills: Advanced contract drafting, negotiation and contract management skills for both GPO and local contracts for clinical, non-clinical and purchased services
• Requires excellent verbal communications skills for interaction with members of the sourcing function, the procurement function, vendors and the legal department
• Strong track record of coaching and developing staff, preferably in contract management and contracting language
• Strong organizational ability to manage contracts
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize accordingly to organizational priorities and deadlines.

Certification: None
E. Work Experience: Requires a minimum 5 years of contract related work experience.
F. Machines, Tools, Equipment: Microsoft office applications and operate general office and communications equipment.

A. Budget Responsibility: Effectively uses resources within control.
B. Authority/Decision Making Level: Prioritizes and organizes work to meet changing priorities. Makes decisions regarding work processes based on established guidelines.
C. Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Problem Solving: Performs critical thinking to draft contracts and correspondence.
Information Management: Interprets written and oral directions from members of the Purchasing Department and attorneys in the Legal Department.
Working Conditions:
1. Works in normal office environment where there is little discomfort due to extremes of
heat, dust, noise, temperature, etc.
2. Work requires considerable attention to detail.
Experience above and beyond the work experience requirement will be considered in lieu of degree on a 2 years of experience for 1 year of education basis.
